Lamborghini official unveiled the new Gallardo Superleggera, a light weight version of the Gallardo that has an increased output of 10 horsepower. The weight/power ratio of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is only 2.5 kg/hp, which puts it at the top. The V10 530 horsepower engine along with its robotized mechanical ‘e-gear’ gearbox, gives the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera the ability to do 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds.

Power is also up by 10bhp, giving the Lamborghini a weight-to-power ratio of 2.5kg for every bhp. It'll sprint to 62mph in 3.8 seconds, not quite as fast as the 3.6 seconds of the Ferrari or the 3.7 seconds of the Porsche, but with its four-wheel drive the Gallardo Superleggera is arguably a more useable car when conditions are less than perfect.

Car Review: For a while Lamborghini toyed with the idea of binning the Gallardo’s four-wheel-drive system because that would have saved 50kg in one hit. But in the end Sant'Agata’s top brass decided that four-wheel drive is an integral pat of a modern Lamborghini’s genetic make-up, so the weight would have to be saved in other areas.
